Aptiv and Lyft lacked monitoring visibility for their functioning autonomous vehicles in Las Vegas, hindering their ability to make quick actionable decisions regarding their fleet.

Context

The autonomous vehicle technology introduced a whole new dimension into fleet management. The topic of self-driving cars have been circulating since the 1920s, yet they still mystify people today. People say that riding them is a whole new experience. Now imagine managing a whole fleet of them?
The previous gen of Command Center needed to account not just of L3 private testing sites. The needs now called for a design to commercial spaces, straight from Lyft's Ridesharing app.
Working with our user in fleet operations, dispatch, and Drivers, we determined each of their ecosystem and different views of their workflows and worked with them to define success in their work.
I co-designed the digital experience with Cornelius Rachieru: from concept, workflow definition, ideation, and final design execution. I inherited the design before it was revealed and launched at CESĀ 2019 and was responsible thereafter.
